Moretti stars as The Cogs/Miller Financial defeats Fuzzy Dogs, 26-3

An excellent effort by James Moretti spurred The Cogs to a 26-3 win in five innings over Fuzzy Dogs on Tuesday at one.

Moretti racked up six RBIs on two hits for The Cogs. He homered in the second and fourth innings.

Everything was working at the plate for the The Cogs in the second. The Cogs’ bats caught fire leading to 16 runs.

The Cogs hit seven home runs in the win. Home runs for The Cogs came when George Nebesnik homered in the first inning, Mike Lawson homered in the second inning, Felix Thomas homered in the second inning, Nate Miller homered in the second and third innings, and Moretti homered in the second and fourth innings.

Mike Webster got the win for The Cogs. He allowed three runs over five innings. Webster struck out five, walked one and gave up four hits.

The Cogs pounded Fuzzy Dogs pitching, as nine hitters combined for 16 hits, 18 RBIs and 25 runs scored.

The Cogs stayed on top until the final out after taking the lead in the first, scoring three runs on a two-run home run by Nebesnik and a sacrifice fly by Moretti.

The Cogs scored five runs of its own in the fourth. The Cogs scored on an RBI triple by Nebesnik, an RBI single by Webster, a two-run home run by Moretti, and a fielder’s choice.
