Offenses dominate as The Cogs/Miller Financial outscores Ruffino 10-8

Pitchers had a tough day during the game between The Cogs and Ruffino, as the two teams put up 18 runs combined in a 10-8 The Cogs win.

The teams combined for 24 hits, including seven extra base hits.

The teams traded runs for most of the contest, leading to seven lead changes in the game.

The Cogs hit three home runs in the win. Home runs for The Cogs came when James Moretti homered in the third inning, Felix Thomas homered in the third inning, and Tom Davis homered in the fourth inning.

Thomas got the win for The Cogs despite allowing eight runs over seven innings. Thomas struck out one, walked five and gave up 11 hits.

Moretti, George Nebesnik, Thomas and Davis helped lead The Cogs. They combined for seven hits and seven RBIs.

In the top of the first, Ruffino grabbed the early lead, 1-0. Ruffino’s threat began with a single by PlayerA. A single by PlayerB then moved PlayerA from first to third.

The game was never in doubt after the sixth, as The Cogs scored three runs on a two-run double by Moretti and a sacrifice fly by Rich Weiss.
